WASHINGTON, Oct. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The social media world is about to have a new player in the field with a twist! In an already crowded space, CuriPow will differentiate itself by providing its users with something more. Included in every user profile is historical information on African Americans ranging from the early 1700's up to current events.
The service has a forum called "What Chu Talkin Bout" where a topic of the day is presented, for example: "How Can White People Stop White Supremacy?" It allows for spirited discussions, debates and engaging conversations each day. In CuriPow Shorts, users can read four quick snippets on African Americans daily that have made contributions or significant changes in history.
The African American community has been looking for a social network to call their own. Most African American social media users are familiar with Black Twitter, Black Instagram and even Black Reddit. It clearly shows that there is a need and CuriPow plans to fill that void not by only providing a platform for African Americans to have a voice but also to provide them with empowering information on their history to share with friends and family. The company plans to expand into other ethnicities in the near future.
Founded by Brian Galvin, a former U.S. Marine and Washington DC resident, who has worked in the real estate industry for over a decade. He has dabbled in the tech sector with a few projects and is now looking to take a full plunge into a space where there are not that many African Americans.
The inspiration for CuriPow came about from Brian's childhood. As an avid comic book reader, his mother gave him some comics on Crispus Attucks, Benjamin Banneker and Frederick Douglas that forever changed his perspective on life. Discover some cool things at #CuriosityEmpowered.
