Curtis Bay Energy Expands Leadership Team of Experienced Environmental Services Professionals with the Appointment of Charlie Leonard as President/COO, and Chris Scherer as CFO.
BALTIMORE, Nov. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Curtis Bay Energy, a leading regulated medical waste (RMW) disposal company serving a growing number of leading hospitals and health care providers across the East Coast Region, announced the appointment of Charlie Leonard as President/COO, and Chris Scherer as Chief Financial Officer.

Charlie Leonard has over 25 years of experience in the environmental services industry, holding leadership positions with both large public companies and private enterprises. Prior to Curtis Bay, Charlie was the President and CEO of TrashMasters, LLC, a private equity backed solid waste and recycling business based in Honolulu, HI. In less than three years under Charlie's leadership, TrashMasters significantly increased revenues and EBITDA margins. Prior to TrashMasters, Charlie was Senior Vice President of Operations for Casella Waste Systems and spent ten years at Laidlaw Waste Systems where he was the SVP of US Operations. He also enjoyed a progressive ten year history in management at Browning-Ferris Industries.
At Curtis Bay, Charlie will lead key operational initiatives and facility optimization. Chris Scherer is the former Director of Budgeting, Forecasting and Operational Support at Casella Waste Systems, a $500 million publicly traded waste management company operating a solid waste collection business and a network of landfills, transfer stations, and recycling facilities across the northeast U.S. While with Casella, Chris developed pricing initiatives and tools that differentiated the company and helped guide performance. Prior to Casella, Chris was the Regional Controller at Allied Waste Industries.
At Curtis Bay, Chris will oversee Curtis Bay's growing finance and accounting functions.
