CustomerFirst Renewables Welcomes Dennis McGinn to Board and Senior Advisor Roles
GAITHERSBURG, Md., April 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- CustomerFirst Renewables (CFR) is pleased to announce Vice Admiral Dennis V. McGinn, USN, Retired, has joined its Board of Directors. In this role, McGinn will help steer CFR in bringing large-scale renewable energy solutions to large electricity end-users.
Additionally, McGinn will serve in a senior advisor role at CFR, leading discussions with clients and partners as well as with CFR's leadership.

McGinn served as the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Energy, Installations and Environment) from September 2013 until January of this year. As Assistant Secretary, McGinn developed department-wide policies, procedures, advocacy and strategic plans. He also oversaw all Department of the Navy functions and programs related to installations, safety, energy, and environment.
Previously McGinn served as President of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), where he led the effort to communicate the significant economic, security and environmental benefits of renewable energy. Additionally, McGinn is a past co-chairman of the CNA Military Advisory Board and an international security senior fellow at the Rocky Mountain Institute.
McGinn retired from the Navy in 2002 after 35 years of service and achieving the rank of Vice Admiral. While in the Navy, he served as Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Warfare Requirements and Programs, overseeing the development of future Navy capabilities and held a previous command of the U.S. Third Fleet. He also served as a naval aviator, test pilot, aircraft carrier commanding officer, and national security strategist.
McGinn is a past member of the Steering Committee of the Energy Future Coalition, the Bipartisan Policy Center Energy Board, and the United States Energy Security Council. He received a B.S. in Naval Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, attended the Harvard Kennedy School National Security Program, and was a Chief of Naval Operations strategic studies fellow at the U.S. Naval War College.
