D-Link Gets Your Home Talking with New D.I.Y. Security Kits

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- INTERNATIONAL CES -- D-Link today announced two home security solutions – the D.I.Y. Security Kit – HD Edition (DCH-101KT) and the D.I.Y. Security Kit – HD Pan & Tilt Edition (DCH-301KT). Designed to help homeowners and renters take a hands-on approach to their security systems, each kit combines three of D-Link's most popular smart home products – a Wi-Fi Camera, Wi-Fi Smart Plug and Wi-Fi Motion Sensor – offering hundreds of ways to secure, connect and automate the home. The kits also offer free cloud video recording enabling users to automatically capture footage based on motion sensor triggers; a handy feature for travelers wishing to protect their home while away.

All of the products included in the D.I.Y. Security Kits work with the free mydlink^® Home app for iOS^® and Android^® smartphones and tablets allowing users to control the devices all from one screen. Users can access the Wi-Fi Camera to view a live feed of their home from virtually anywhere, use the Wi-Fi Smart Plug to remotely turn devices and appliances on and off, and receive alerts from the Wi-Fi Motion Sensor to always know when something is moving at home. The mydlink Home app also makes it quick and easy to create actions between the devices for a truly automated security solution. For instance, an action could be created to pair all three smart products to turn on the lights and automatically record footage when motion is detected.

While all D-Link^® Wi-Fi Cameras can work with a D-Link Network Video Recorder (NVR) to record and save footage locally, both D.I.Y. Security Kits also give users the option to record video footage to their own private mydlink Cloud account for free. Users can record and save up to ten 30-second clips per day on a first-in-first-out rolling week storage in response to motion detection and can access those clips right from the mydlink Home app. D-Link's approach to motion-based recording, as opposed to continuous cloud recording, allows users to capture the important events that happen at home without wreaking havoc on network bandwidth and broadband speeds. D-Link's new mydlink Cloud video recording option is not only included with these D.I.Y. Bundle Kits, but is supported on select mydlink Wi-Fi Cameras including the DCS-935L, DCS-5010L, DCS-5020L and DCS-5222L (revision B1/B2).  The free mydlink Cloud Recording option will be available to these existing camera users in 1Q 2015.
