CINCINNATI, July 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- D2C Brands today announced that it has completed an initial closing on an anticipated capital raise of $20 million. D2C Brands will use this dedicated pool of capital to build the world's first direct-to-consumer brand holding company.
Direct-to-consumer brands are an outgrowth of the massive shift away from bricks and mortar retailers toward ecommerce. The growth of ecommerce, including marketplaces such as Amazon, together with the growth of social media, has enabled entrepreneurs to create niche product companies that market and sell their goods directly to the consumer. D2C Brand's strategy is to acquire attractive but nascent direct-to-consumer brands, integrate those brands onto a common platform, and leverage this platform to take these promising brands to the next level. Currently, the Company is targeting acquisitions of profitable, growing direct-to-consumer brands generating between $1 and $3 million in cash flow.

Its founders, Troy Augustine and Mark Sancrant, executed a similar buy-and-build strategy at their former company, iNET Interactive. iNET completed nine acquisitions of niche media brands, integrated those brands onto a common platform, and leveraged this platform to achieve growth. After building the company over a 9-year period, iNET was acquired by Penton Media in January of 2015.
