LOS ALTOS, Calif., July 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Daintree Networks®, the leader in open networked wireless control and operation solutions for smart buildings, today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Derek Proudian as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Board of Directors, effective immediately. Proudian is an industry IT veteran who has been tracking the Internet revolution since his first job working at SRI on the ARPAnet, while a computer science student at Stanford University in 1980. Derek brings a wealth of experience in various areas of technology, including IP switches, artificial intelligence, hardware, big data, internet services, mobile data, and optical components. Derek has held CEO roles at five venture-capital backed companies, including Zip2 (Elon Musk's first company) which Derek sold to Compaq for over $300 million. Danny Yu, who served as CEO of Daintree Networks for the last 5 plus years, will remain with the company and become President of the company's Operational Technologies (OT) business.

"We are very excited to bring on a leader of Derek's caliber and look forward to his valuable contributions to accelerate the company's leadership in the Enterprise Internet of Things (E-IoT), while continuing to leverage Danny Yu's expertise in building control solutions. This is a one-two punch for us," said Board member, Teresa Engelhard, Managing Partner at Jolimont Capital.

Named as a Top 50 IoT company last year, Daintree Networks continues to be a prime driver for open standards in the building control and sensors market. With a large ecosystem of partners—including GE, LG Electronics, Flextronics, and LG Innotek—Daintree's software and wireless networking offers an open and comprehensive building control solution with the flexibility to grow with customers to meet their evolving IoT needs.

"Having Derek on board is a game changing, positive step forward for us," said Danny Yu, now President of Daintree Networks' OT business. "The hardest part about the Internet of Things are the 'Things'," said Derek Proudian, Chairman and CEO of Daintree Networks, Inc. "Daintree's proven leadership in scalable mesh networking and open standards, together with its impressive set of ecosystem partners, positions the company to be a big winner in this sector.
