Dancers and Sponsors Two-Step to Help Fight Pediatric Cancer
ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Jan. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Lights. Camera. Cure., a 6-hour Dance-A-THON to raise money and awareness for the fight against children's cancer was held at the historic Avalon Theater in the heart of Hollywood, CA on Sunday January 29, 2012.
Lights. Camera. Cure., the first annual event, was sponsored by The Penn State Alumni Association Los Angeles (PSULA) and was proud to announce that they raised $37,411.40 in support of THON, the 46-hour dance marathon run by Penn State students at their school each February for the past 40 years. Last year, THON raised nearly $10 million for The Four Diamonds Fund, bringing their total donations to more than $78 million. The mission of the Four Diamonds Fund is to conquer pediatric cancer by assisting children and their families through superior care, comprehensive support, and innovative research. The fund offsets the cost of treatment not covered by insurance, supports the medical team that cares for the children and subsidizes pediatric cancer research.
Help fueling the dancers during the 6 hours, was Restaurants On The Run. "We were very excited on the opportunity to help this great cause. THON is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, and this is a great way we can help students help kids," said Michael Turner, Director of Marketing of ROTR. Restaurants On The Run, the largest food delivery company in the nation, provided and delivered food from Simple Things Sandwich and Pie Shop, to all the dancers that attended and raised money for the charity event.
