Daphne Allen, PMP News Editor Honored by AIM

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Oct. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- AIM has recognized several professionals during its Awards Gala at its annual Summit on September 10, 2012 in Chicago. Pharmaceutical & Medical Packaging News Editor Daphne Allen was among the winners, having been recognized by AIM with the 2012 Bert Moore Excellence in Journalism Award. AIM represents providers and users of Automatic Identification and Mobility hardware, software, and solutions.

The journalism award was originally established in 2006 by AIM's Educational and Public Policy committee as the Excellence in Journalism Award to recognize a journalist or a media representative in the automatic identification industry whose work exemplifies the qualities of honest, educational, and unbiased reporting of the automatic identification and mobility industry. The award was renamed in 2012 to honor the late Bert Moore, AIM's director of communications and media relations, who was a past recipient of the honor. Moore most recently served as editor of RFID Connections and AIM Connections and had been named a member of the AIDC 100, which recognizes individuals who made significant contributions to the AIDC industry. He formerly was chairman of the AIM International technical committee, secretary for the ANSI MH10.8 shipping container standards group and executive director of the Federation for Automatic Coding Technologies (FACT).

In 2012, Allen moderated a June Webcast featuring AIM North America's committee on Unique Device Identification (UDI) and joined the committee before the audience at the AIM Summit in September. During these events the subcommittee discussed the proposed UDI rule. Allen has also written numerous articles on AIDC technology and related regulations and standards. She has covered healthcare product manufacturing and packaging issues for more than 18 years and has served as editor of Pharmaceutical & Medical Packaging News since 1998.
