GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Sept. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Davenport University is pleased to announce that Brian Walker, former president and CEO of Herman Miller, Inc., will join the Davenport University Board of Trustees.
Prior to retiring this August, Walker spent 14 years as the president and CEO of Herman Miller, where his company career spanned 29 years. Under Walker's leadership, Herman Miller redefined itself as a premium lifestyle brand through a transformative business strategy called SHIFT.
Walker is the recipient of Davenport University's 2018 Peter C. Cook Excellence in Business Award, presented each year to an individual who exemplifies professional success and commitment to community service and support. Through his efforts as a visionary businessman and active community leader, Walker has contributed greatly to western Michigan's business growth over the past three decades.
Walker is chairman of the board of directors for The Right Place, Inc. He is a member of the board of directors for Briggs & Stratton Corporation, The Stephen A. Wynn Institute for Vision Research, and Universal Forest Products, Inc.
