David Jewkes joins Avison Young in Las Vegas
Highly regarded industry veteran becomes Managing Director, Brokerage Operations
TORONTO, June 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ - Mark E. Rose, Chair and CEO of Avison Young, the world's fastest-growing commercial real estate services company, announced today that highly regarded industry veteran David Jewkes has joined the firm as Managing Director, Brokerage Operations in Las Vegas.
Effective immediately, Jewkes will provide overall management and leadership of Avison Young's brokerage operations in Las Vegas. He brings more than 25 years of commercial real estate management and transaction experience to Avison Young, most recently as Senior Vice-President, Nevada with Cushman & Wakefield.

During his career, Jewkes has served clients in Nevada, California, Utah and Arizona. In addition to managing operations, he has developed specific expertise in business development and investor service.

In his former role at Cushman & Wakefield, Jewkes created and managed the firm's entire investor services portfolio, which spanned Las Vegas and Reno. The 5.6-million-square-foot (msf) portfolio included the 1.65-msf Northgate Industrial Center in North Las Vegas – the new home for Amazon's 900,000-square-foot western distribution centre. Jewkes also helped to almost double the number of real estate professionals working for the company in Nevada in a 20-month span.
Jewkes rejoined Cushman & Wakefield after serving for two years as president of Integris Capital Group, and three years as executive director of Commerce TNP. He initially joined Cushman & Wakefield | Commerce in late 2007 through the acquisition of Burnham Real Estate, where he held senior executive positions in Las Vegas and San Diego. During his tenure with Burnham, he launched the firm's asset recovery services practice and became qualified to work as a receiver. Since 2009, he has acted as a court-appointed receiver in cases covering more than 120 assets in 15 jurisdictions in Nevada, California, Utah and Arizona. Also at Burnham, he expanded the company's Las Vegas operations through the acquisitions of two prominent Las Vegas companies.
Prior to joining Burnham, Jewkes spent 11 years at Wallace Associates in Salt Lake City, rising to president and CEO from an associate position. He was responsible for converting the company into the Grubb & Ellis affiliate for Salt Lake City. He also spent two years in a senior position with the Salt Lake Olympic Organizing Committee.

Jewkes is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), NAIOP, the Urban Land Institute (ULI), BOMA, the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), and the International Real Estate Institute (IREI.) He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing and undertook graduate studies in the MBA Program at Brigham Young University.
Avison Young opened its Las Vegas office in November 2011 and a second Nevada office in Reno in March 2012. Since then, the company has expanded steadily in the state.
