Decade Software to Deliver Environmental Health Software to Suffolk County Department of Health Services
SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y., June 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Suffolk County Department of Health Services Bureau of Public Health Protection has contracted Decade Software Company, LLC's environmental health software EnvisionConnect, the company announced today. The County will use EnvisionConnect and EnvisionConnect Remote for internal data management and electronic inspections to manage the County's Food Protection Program (FPP). The FPP is focused on food safety and preventing foodborne illness at the County's 6,000 permitted food facilities.

After fifteen years, the County of Suffolk has outgrown the custom-built data management and field inspection programs currently in use. Inefficient reporting features and poor integration between the two products led the agency to source an integrated and proven replacement system to advance their operations.
"EnvisionConnect will give us the capability to better monitor and manage productivity and efficiency, as well as our inspection and enforcement processes," says Stephen Kane, Assistant Chief and Program Supervisor. He notes that the Bureau hopes to also improve a state-mandated reporting process whereby staff, inspectional, and operational data is collected by the State of New York. "That data contributes to funding that we receive from the state, and we look forward to a more effective reporting processes with EnvisionConnect."
The Bureau has larger aspirations as well. "We are currently adopting the FDA Voluntary National Food Regulatory Program Standards," says Christopher Sortino, Chief of the Bureau of Public Health Protection, "Our current system is not in compliance with the FDA Voluntary Standards; Decade's technology will allow us to comply with the Standards by tracking risk factors on an updated inspection report.
