FORT BELVOIR, Va., June 25, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Defense Logistics Agency wants to make it easier for businesses to work with the organization, which supports warfighters around the world.
Businesses that have contracts with the agency are now encouraged to register with a new computer-based system designed to streamline transportation issues and costs for vendors and DLA. Vendor Shipment Module is a web-based transportation system that uses current addressing and routing logic to provide vendors with access to the most cost-effective shipping/routing expertise, military shipping labels and other transportation documents for DLA-administered contracts.
VSM is a part of the First Destination Transportation and Packaging Initiative, which focuses on DLA-approved transportation and packaging concepts that will change the manner in which supplies are packaged and transported through the agency's targeted supply chains. More information about the program is available at http://www.dla.mil/FDTPI/Pages/default.aspx.
To register for a VSM account, suppliers should go to https://vsm.distribution.dla.mil and click on "New Vendor Application." Anyone needing assistance or more information can reach the help desk at 800-456-5507 from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (EDT) Monday through Friday or by email at email@example.com.
