CHARLOTTE, Aug. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) today named QRS Newmedia, BlaCon Media, Verge Talent, Stroud Communications and Strauss Radio Strategies as Studio 2012 Vendors for the 2012 Democratic National Convention. The companies will provide a wide range of services for Studio 2012 including television production staff, radio services, and make-up artists.
"In addition to their extensive wealth of knowledge, experience and talent, our vendors bring their excitement and enthusiasm to this project," said DNCC CEO Steve Kerrigan. "Studio 2012 is essential to our work because it allows us to localize the convention experience and ensure that elected officials, campaign surrogates, and others attending the convention here in Charlotte can communicate our message of bringing Americans together to those tuning in from communities across the country. Studio 2012 helps all Americans participate in this convention and share in the excitement."
Studio 2012 is a full-service multi-media studio that is built within the convention hall. The primary purpose of the studio is to provide regional and local television and radio markets with access to prominent surrogates and elected officials that are at the convention. In addition to radio and satellite TV studios, the operation will include photo, video, and online support that will allow those on the ground in Charlotte to communicate directly with media in their home states.
The Studio will be fully operational for approximately 20 hours each day of the convention. It will be housed in Time Warner Cable Arena for the first two days of the convention and will move to the field at Bank of America Stadium for the final day.
The DNCC evaluated proposals based on numerous criteria, including, but not limited to: experience, reliability, relationships to Charlotte, North Carolina, and the surrounding region, participation of union labor, women, minorities, LGBT, veterans and persons with disabilities, and innovative proposed solutions.
The DNCC and the Host Committee have adopted a diversity contracting policy for the 2012 Democratic National Convention that represents unprecedented progress towards both the inclusion and use of diverse businesses. The policy states that the DNCC has a goal of spending at least one third of its funding for contracts and projects with Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs), Women Business Enterprises (WBEs), Disability-Owned Businesses, LGBT-Owned Businesses, and Veteran-Owned Businesses.
