Detroit Entrepreneur Launches ACE Petroleum

According to Shepherd, "I'm a son of Detroit, and have worked more than 30 years to help revitalize the city in a variety of ways. ACE Petroleum builds on my understanding of the Detroit market and passion for the fuel and oil business.

"My vision is to become a respected minority supplier to Fortune 500 companies throughout the United States. And while I'm the only certified minority business enterprise fuel supplier in Michigan, and among only a few in the United States, ACE Petroleum will only grow through exceptional service and by anticipating the needs of our clients. We intend to deliver on all counts," he said.

In 1987, Shepherd began his career as a district manager at an area fuel distribution company, he had daily operational oversight of eight of the stores, managing nearly 100 employees. While in this role, he turned the stores around making all eight profitable.

Prior to launching his new company, Shepherd led his real estate company, Ace Investment Group, LLC, which he founded in 2003. The company exclusively purchases properties in the city of Detroit. Over the years, the company has bought hundreds of duplexes, single- and multi-family homes, and apartment building units. Unlike many property "flippers," the investment group purchases, renovates, holds and leases its properties.

Today, Ace Investment Group has one of the largest African American owned apartment portfolios in the city of Detroit. Additionally, along with its management company Jackson ACE, they're the largest housing provider for local nonprofit agencies in the City and assist hundreds of families in a common mission to help eradicate homelessness.

ACE Petroleum is headquartered on McNichols, in Detroit. Shepherd recently purchased an adjacent building to house Ace Investment's 30 employees.

Shepherd is a Detroit native and graduated from Western International High School in 1983 and attended the Detroit College of Business.
