Detroit Manufacturing Systems Donates 3-D Printer To Local High School
DETROIT, Jan. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Science students at Frederick Douglass Academy for Young Men, a public school on Detroit's west side got a special holiday treat on a cold and snowy December morning, a new 3-D printer donated by Detroit Manufacturing Systems with all the supplies needed to begin operating it immediately.
The generous gift was provided by DMS, a large-scale component manufacturer headquartered in Detroit, to ensure local students have access to the latest technology for classroom learning and future career preparation.
The new equipment will be housed in the science lab on the second floor of the all-male middle and high school.
"We truly hope these students will not only discover how to make useful things with this 3-D printer, but also learn about how it relates to career paths that could help them each create a satisfying and rewarding future for themselves," said DMS Vice President Lori Rush Lancaster.
