Detroit Metro CVB Awarded 2014 Travel Weekly Gold Magellan Award

DETROIT, Sept. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau (DMCVB) has been awarded a 2014 Gold Magellan Award by Travel Weekly for its Comeback City advertising campaign. The award was in the category United States/Canada - Overall Destinations – City. The DMCVB's agency of record SMZ designed and submitted the creative campaign.

The campaign, which was integrated across all media, including print, video, trade show, collateral, social and direct mail, features authentic stories from meeting planners and hospitality industry professionals that bring to life the idea that we live in this city and the city lives in us. In the 10 months since the campaign's launch, bookings for meetings in the Detroit market nearly doubled and hotel room occupancies are up 47 percent from 2013.

With entries from across the U.S. and around the world, the Magellan Award winners represent the best in the travel industry and salute the outstanding travel professionals behind it all.
