• Unexpectedly, "sightseeing" is the number one vacation activity, as 27.6% of all entrants indicated this as their number one choice for vacation takeaways
• "Relaxing at the beach" is the second most desirable activity, with 21% of all respondents indicating beach relaxation as their number one choice
• On the other end of the spectrum, only 4.7% of entrants indicated sampling local cuisine as their number one activity choice

Since sightseeing and relaxing on the beach are the top two activities, it is little surprise that Hawaii is the favorite dream vacation for 24.4%. It is interesting to note that Australia was the number two destination choice, with a robust 13.8% of all entrants indicating a dream to "go down under."

In this day and age of lots of connectivity and very little solitude, it is interesting that 4.2% of all respondents indicated they prefer to enjoy their dream vacation alone.

Finally, while you often think that people on vacation cast restraint to the wind, only 1% of all entrants indicated they wanted to come back 10 pounds heavier. Most Americans want to come back with "memories," as 35% selected this from a list of choices that included being rested, tanned or exhausted. Tans and relaxation fade away, but memories can last a lifetime—and Diamond Resorts is focused on providing memories and experiences that last a lifetime.
