Diesel Technology Forum to Host Energy Policy Summit Keynote Luncheon for National Conference of State Legislatures August 8th in San Antonio
"Making Transportation and Goods Movement Leaner, Cleaner & Greener" With Clean Diesel Technology to Be Highlighted At Nation's Largest Meeting of State Legislators
WASHINGTON, Aug. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Two special events next week at the largest gathering of state legislators and staff in the U.S. in 2011 will highlight how new clean diesel technology is improving transportation efficiency and economic productivity throughout the nation.
Both events at the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) 2011 Legislative Summit will be hosted by the Diesel Technology Forum (DTF) at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, TX.
On August 8th, DTF will host the NCSL Energy Policy Summit luncheon with DTF Executive Director Allen Schaeffer giving the keynote presentation.
On August 10th, about 6,000 legislators, staff and other attendees are expected to attend the DTF clean diesel technology exhibit and luncheon.
"With more than 90 percent of the world's global trade being diesel-powered, it's important that America's legislators be informed about the latest developments in clean diesel technology and how it is benefiting our transportation system and economy," Schaeffer said.
Newest Clean Diesel Technology to Be On Exhibit
"The NCSL Legislative Summit in San Antonio is the largest and most important meeting of the year for state lawmakers and their staff so we're pleased to host both the Energy Policy Summit luncheon and the full convention luncheon to showcase examples of the most advanced clean diesel automobiles, trucks, buses, construction and farm equipment and pickup trucks."
The Forum's exhibit will include the latest clean diesel technology from companies like Caterpillar, Chrysler Group LLC, Cummins Inc., Daimler AG, Deere and Company, Ford Motor Company, General Motors Company, and Volkswagen Group of American Inc. The exhibits will include fuel-efficient heavy-duty trucks, highway construction equipment, farm tractors, school buses, and the latest clean diesel cars and pickup trucks.
Schaeffer said examples of the new diesel technologies that will be exhibited are:
- 2011 Ford F-250 XL Pickup Truck
- 2011 GMC Sierra 2500 HD 4WD Crewcab Diesel Pickup Truck
- 2011 Ram 3500 Laramie with 6.7L Cummins® Turbo Diesel Pickup Truck

Legislators to Hear How Clean Diesel Will Help Achieve New Fuel Efficiency Standards
"With last week's announcement on new automobile fuel efficiency standards and new regulations on medium and large trucks to be announced soon, the legislators will have significant interest in how new diesel automobile and truck technology will help achieve these new standards," Schaeffer said.
Clean Diesel's Fuel Efficiency & Productivity Important for Tight Government Budgets
"In addition, with the difficult financial issues facing federal, state and local governments, the legislators will be extremely interested in learning how these new technologies can benefit their tight budgets through improved fuel mileage, efficiency and productivity while meeting environmental, energy and climate challenges," Schaeffer said.
