Digi-Key Aims to Prep University Students for Another Year with Back2School Contest; "Summer Break Edition" Video Series
THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn., Sept. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The annual Back2School social media contest being run by Digi-Key Electronics, a global electronic components distributor, is offering students in the US and Canada a chance to win a Digi-Key InstaLab kit as well as development boards and other prizes from some of the company's supplier partners. Students with a valid university or college email address can enter by visiting Digi-Key's official Back2School contest page.
The InstaLab was created with the intention of providing enough gear to turn an electronics student's dorm room into their own maker space. The kit includes over 20 different products from many of Digi-Key's trusted supplier partners.
In addition to the contest, Digi-Key is launching another round of their Another Geek Moment | Summer Break Edition video series. This year's video series features three engineering students, Ashley, Darren, and Haley, showcasing their skills while being filmed in Madison, WI at the UW-Madison Makerspace over summer break. New videos will premier every Thursday throughout September and October.
The projects range from a GPS dog tracking device that will overlay the path on Google Maps to an Adafruit Crickit robot that dances, as well as an LED ring that will display specific colors based on the weather outside. These projects can be found on Maker.io with in-depth instructions on how to re-create them. The cost to build them are perfect for a student-sized budget and great for makers of all ages.
