Digital Domain Scores Trifecta With Academy Award, BAFTA, VES Best Visual Effects Nominations For Two Films: Avengers: Infinity War, Ready Player One

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 25, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Global visual effects studio Digital Domain has received multiple Oscars®, BAFTA and Visual Effects Society (VES) Awards nominations for outstanding visual effects on two of its films: "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Ready Player One."

For the 91st Oscars® Achievement in Visual Effects, Digital Domain received two nominations:

• "Avengers: Infinity War" for Digital Domain VFX Supervisor Kelly Port, among Dan DeLeeuw, Russell Earl and Dan Sudick
• "Ready Player One" for Digital Domain VFX Supervisor Matthew E. Butler, among Roger Guyett, Grady Cofer and David Shirk

For the 2019 EE British Academy Film Awards, BAFTA nominated Digital Domain for Best Special Visual Effects on two films:

• "Avengers: Infinity War" for Digital Domain VFX Supervisor Kelly Port, among Dan DeLeeuw, Russell Earl and Dan Sudick
• "Ready Player One" for Digital Domain VFX Supervisor Matthew E. Butler, among Roger Guyett, Grady Cofer and David Shirk
• An honorary mention to Digital Domain's previsualization team who worked on "Black Panther," nominated for Best Special Visual Effects

For the 17th Annual VES Awards, Digital Domain received three nominations:

• "Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature" for "Avengers: Infinity War" for Digital Domain VFX Supervisor Kelly Port, among Dan DeLeeuw, Jen Underdahl, Matt Aitken and Dan Sudick
• "Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature" for "Ready Player One" for Digital Domain VFX Supervisor Matthew E. Butler, among Roger Guyett, Jennifer Meislohn, Neil Corbould and David Shirk
• "Outstanding Animated Character in a Photoreal Feature" for the Thanos character in "Avengers: Infinity War" for Digital Domain's Animation Supervisor and head of animation Jan Philip Cramer, and DFX Supervisor and head of digital humans Darren Hendler. Also named are Paul Story and Sidney Kombo-Kintombo.
