Digium Launches Digium Cloud Services with Acquisition of VocalCloud

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Sept. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, today announced that it has acquired VocalCloud, a provider of cloud-based VoIP solutions, creating Digium Cloud Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Digium. Through Digium Cloud Services, the company will offer Switchvox Cloud, the hosted version of its award-winning Switchvox business phone system, and will use the new entity for the delivery of future cloud-based Unified Communications (UC) products and services.

As a result of growing demand for a hosted solution from SMB customers, Digium launched Switchvox Cloud in partnership with VocalCloud earlier this year.  Immediate success of the offering resulted in the two organizations electing to join forces.  Acquiring VocalCloud's expertise and proven infrastructure enables Digium to deliver its Switchvox business phone system to SMBs through the new subsidiary, while managing the entire offering, end to end.
