AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Discount Electronics announces a change in their online retail strategy by leveraging BigCommerce's e-commerce platform and on-demand, same day computer configuration.

As of Aug. 20, 2017, every Dell laptop and computer sold by DiscountElectronics.com is customizable. Customers can choose from a variety of options prior to checkout. Once a user has selected the laptop or desktop they wish to purchase they can change the amount of memory, size of hard drive, operating system and more.

Discount Electronics now offers same day shipping of customized Dell PCs and laptops.

Although custom built PCs are nothing new, Discount Electronics offers something that is a first in the industry. These custom made, refurbished Dell laptops and PCs are shipped the same day. Consumers who add their custom creation to their cart before 2 p.m. CST will see it shipped the very same day.

Discount Electronics doesn't sell on Amazon or eBay. CEO Rick Culleton says his company only sells directly to keep costs down: "Sales made through third party marketplaces like Amazon and eBay are more costly transactions. The additional expense of selling on Amazon and eBay are passed onto the customer. We sell direct and save our clients 30 percent over Amazon prices for the same product."

Discount Electronics has Dell Optiplex computers for as little as $88 and Dell Latitude Laptops starting at $122. Even after upgrading the memory and hard drive, the selected laptop was $153.20, and the site indicated the order would ship today.
