Discovery en Espanol Joins Forces With The Hispanic Heritage Foundation To Expand Its Offering Of Its "DESCUBRE TU TALENTO" Campaign

MIAMI, July 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Discovery en Espanol announced today a partnership with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation and its Latinos On Fast Track (LOFT) program for DESCUBRE TU TALENTO (descubretutalento.net), a multimedia public affairs campaign designed to raise awareness of career opportunities within the U.S. Hispanic community and provide the necessary resources for obtaining marketable job skills and expertise.

As part of this partnership, Discovery en Espanol co-hosted the Hispanic Heritage Foundation's 14th Annual Regional Youth Awards in Miami, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. The awards recognize Hispanic youths for outstanding academic performance and community service and are the first step toward acceptance into the LOFT program, which prepares select students for successfully transitioning from high school to college.

This year, the network will also participate in 10 LOFT STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Symposia with HHF and the US Army. These events will feature panel discussions with career planning experts and a networking component.

Under the slogan, "Tu futuro empieza ahora, cuenta con nosotros," DESCUBRE TU TALENTO was launched in 2012 in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Labor to provide the Hispanic community with easy access to job opportunities and workforce preparation tips, including resume writing and interview basics, and useful links to resources for education and training in such critical industries as manufacturing, health care, technology and construction. 

In this newest phase of the campaign, Discovery en Espanol will offer new information, career guidance, resources and opportunities in an engaging format on a variety of platforms:

ONLINE:

• The Spanish-language microsite descubretutalento.net has been redesigned and updated with new sections, including instructions for revalidating college degrees, job search engines, scholarships, resources for learning English, and information about vocational and technical careers. This content will also be leveraged via social media.

ON AIR:

• The network will air public service announcements encouraging viewers to learn about career opportunities. The campaign will also include a series of motivational spots featuring testimonials by Hispanics who have succeeded in achieving their professional goals.
