Dole Packaged Foods Breaks Records; Continues Winning Streak with Fifth Rose Parade Sweepstakes Trophy

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., Jan. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Dole Packaged Foods celebrates its fifth consecutive Sweepstakes Trophy for most beautiful entry from the 2015 Tournament of Roses Parade for its 2015 Dole Rose Parade float, "Rhythm of Hawaii." Dole Packaged Foods is the only company to ever win the Sweepstakes Trophy five years in a row, and every year it has entered.

The "Rhythm of Hawaii" is beautifully portrayed in an action-packed extravaganza with visions of lush white sand beaches, swaying palm trees, two volcanoes that roar to life, a magnificent waterfall that features more than 1,000 gallons of recycled water, as well as intricately carved tiki figures and shimmering dolphins and sea turtles. Also included on the float are healthy GMO-free fruits, including pineapples, mangoes and peaches provided by Dole Packaged Foods for use on the float. Every aspect of the float showcases Dole Packaged Foods' commitment to environmental practices and respect for natural resources.

The "Rhythm of Hawaii" features intricate floral details, an enormous outrigger canoe that sails more than 12 feet forward and aft with the assistance of six paddlers, volcanoes that created eruptions of 20-foot-tall flames, smoke and steam as well as decorative sea shells and accents to bring the tropical setting to life.

Three drummers performed live music on the float while 12 dancers at street level and two dancers on the float performed a range of traditional and modern Pacific Island dances as the float made its way down Colorado Boulevard.

Created by Fiesta Parade Floats, "Rhythm of Hawaii" stood at 55 feet long, 18 feet wide, over 26 feet tall and weighed in at just over 22 tons, or the weight of 10 elephants. Fiesta Parade Floats also designed and built, with the help of Dole employees, Dole Packaged Foods' previous award-winning entries – 2014 "Sunrise at the Oasis," 2013 "Dreaming of Paradise," 2012 "Preserving Paradise" and its 2011 entry "Living Well in Paradise."
