Domaine de la Côte Estate Winery Acquires Sandhi Wines From Terroir Capital
SANTA BARBARA, Calif., May 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- This week winemakers Rajat Parr and Sashi Moorman, under their Domaine de la Côte estate partnership, purchased Sta. Rita Hills-based Sandhi wines from Terroir Capital.
Parr and Moorman, together with Texas-based venture capitalist Steve Webster, now own three premium estate wine brands: Domaine de la Côte in the Sta. Rita Hills, Evening Land Seven Springs Estate in the Eola Amity Hills, and the premium Chardonnay-focused Sandhi Wines in Santa Barbara County.
Begun in the 2009 vintage as a partnership between sommelier Raj Parr, winemaker Sashi Moorman, and investor Charles Banks, Sandhi focuses on premium Chardonnay from the Sta. Rita Hills appellation in Santa Barbara County. In five short vintages the Sandhi project garnered critical acclaim for its bottlings from benchmark vineyards such as Sanford & Benedict and Mt. Carmel while highlighting new sites such as Bentrock and Rita's Crown.
Of the sale, Parr states "We're pleased to have Sandhi under the same operation as our Domaine de la Côte estate and eager to continue our relationships with the great growers here in the Sta. Rita Hills. The quality we've been able to achieve from our neighboring vineyards is important to us and Sashi and I are excited to continue this project."
Domaine de la Côte is a 65-acre estate vineyard at the western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. Planted in 2007 by Sashi Moorman, the Domaine has released three vintages, beginning with the 2011 release.
Production, sales, and marketing efforts for Sandhi wines will fall under the Domaine de la Côte partnership. To contact Domaine de la Côte, please reach Nat Gunter at 805-500-8337 or Email, or visit domainedelacote.com.
