Dominican University to Award Scholarships for Teachers Enrolling in 100% Online Master's in Education Program

TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Dominican University, a U.S.News & World Report-ranked and regionally accredited university, is pleased to announce that applications are currently being accepted for the Bisk Foundation Teacher Education Scholarship. The scholarship, which will be awarded through University Alliance, a division of Bisk Education, will recognize two outstanding educators who are enrolling for the first time in Dominican's online master's in education program.

The scholarships will help gifted educators to earn a Master of Arts in Education in Reading, Elementary Education, or English as a Second Language. These programs help educators gain essential, tangible, and actionable skills that can be used immediately in K-12 classrooms to encourage students to reach their potential.

Dominican University's 100% online programs utilize a video-based e-learning model powered by University Alliance, designed to provide students with the flexibility of 24/7 access to courses. With the availability of scholarships for two new students, this is an excellent time for educators to consider pursuing a master's degree online.

Scholarship applicants must hold a bachelor's, master's, specialist, or doctorate degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA from a regionally accredited institution. A written explanation demonstrating how the applicant has had a positive impact on the lives of others is also required.

Each scholarship for the Spring I, 2012 session is valued at more than $5,400 per student. Recipients will receive the special tuition rate through graduation as long as they remain an active student in good standing.
