The 2025 study highlights key market realities, including AI's shift from an experimental to a strategic business enabler across industries. It also found that generative & agentic AI adoption is still modest—15% and 7% of organizations have each in production, respectively—but that experimentation is now widespread. Despite these gains, AI governance maturity remains uneven between firms that centralize it and those with an ad-hoc approach.

Dresner's research also found that, increasingly, responsibility for ModelOps is shifting toward centralized functions to strengthen governance and infrastructure; IT is taking on this responsibility (40%), surpassing data science (24%). Additionally, agentic AI adoption is accelerating the need for robust ModelOps.
