Donald DeDonatis, III, Announces Resolution of Wegman and Horrom v. USSSA and Donald DeDonatis, III

MELBOURNE, Fla., June 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Donald DeDonatis, III, represented by Lydecker, is pleased to announce the resolution of Wegman and Horrom v United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) and Donald DeDonatis, III, (Case No. 6:23-cv-01637-RBD-RMN, U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida). The lawsuit, filed by plaintiffs Brian Wegman and Thomas Horrom, alleged breach of contract and wrongful termination related to the termination of the plaintiffs. The case, which included multiple other defendants, has been resolved through a mutual settlement finalized on April 21, 2025.

The settlement, the terms of which are confidential, allows all defendants and USSSA to move past this disagreement without the burden of ongoing litigation. The agreement reflects a cooperative effort by all parties to resolve the dispute amicably.

This litigation, which began in 2023, allowed multiple inflammatory and salacious allegations to be made public due to their inclusion in the initial, publicly-filed complaint. However, it should be noted that the final settlement agreement dealt only with matters related to breach of contract, wrongful termination and defamation. All other allegations were dismissed with prejudice earlier in the legal process on December 22, 2024, prior to settlement negotiations.

During his five year tenure (2018-2023) as CEO and board member of USSSA — the largest multi-sport sanctioning body in the United States — the organization showed steady financial growth with increased profits, increased territorial coverage within each sport, and increased royalties from partnerships. Other positions DeDonatis held at USSSA included serving as Michigan Baseball State Director and Vice President of Baseball Operations. DeDonatis was a former professional athlete, drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 1996.
