In the early days of the Internet, Gemmell developed a passion for its use in communicating clinical data to healthcare professionals, patients, advocates and caregivers and saw the power of the channel as transformational in health. "Havas' status as a leading social media agency and its focus on helping its clients leverage digital platforms for commercial success was another attractive attribute for me," said Gemmell.
Gemmell has more than 20 years of healthcare experience spanning biopharmaceuticals, medical education and digital healthcare, for which she has consistently built highly successful teams generating revenue with new customer bases. At WebMD, Gemmell's most recent role was senior vice president, sales and sales operations, as well as sitting on the company's executive leadership committee, which set the strategic priorities for the company and was directly responsible for leading WebMD's Global Biopharmaceutical and Medical Device businesses, WebMD The Magazine and its sales, revenue and advertising operations groups.
In her long tenure at WebMD, she was responsible for creating new revenue streams, developing go-to-market strategies for new products and acquisitions, building specialized sales organizations and leading the operations groups to support sales operations. She's been instrumental in successfully integrating multiple acquired companies and growing sales and revenue of those acquired businesses. She grew WebMD's sales organization from 20 to more than 130 people and its sales from $20 million to $400 million.
