The Apa Sherpa Foundation's name originated from its founder, Apa Sherpa. Apa was born in poverty and worked hard to overcome his destitute situation in life. After a lot of hard work and diligence, Apa became successful and wanted to reach out to others in poverty so that they could experience more out of life than he did.
Many Nepalese people in poverty are devoid of good health and opportunities for an education. Their lack of clean water and sustainable food makes them more susceptible to infection and disease. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, some of the most common infections and diseases in Nepal include hepatitis A, hepatitis E, rabies, Cyclospora cayetanensis, and diarrheal infections. Those in poverty are also less likely to get a substantial education due to a lack of money, health, or resources to build schools and buy supplies. However, in order to curb poverty, a good education can be crucial in learning how to provide a sustainable income which can help build healthy individuals and families.
The Apa Sherpa Foundation's efforts in Nepal are now bridging the gap between poverty and success. To help encourage prosperity, they are working to bring education to the Nepalese communities so that individuals can provide for themselves and their families and live successful and healthy lives. Currently, they are working with the Thame Sherpa Heritage Fund to rebuild Thame's school building. The dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation's donation toward building supplies will help children in this school to learn more efficiently and effectively. The Apa Sherpa Foundation is also helping to raise funds to employ teachers for a school in Khumbu, Nepal.
Through donations, fundraisers, and their dedication to increase educational opportunities, the Apa Sherpa Foundation is changing their community for the better. To learn more about the Apa Sherpa Foundation, visit their website.
