doTERRA Donates to Center for Law and Social Work

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah, Dec. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- When it comes to priorities, the Center for Law and Social Work is making sure that family is first. The Center for Law and Social Work is an organization that uses social workers and lawyers to primarily and legally keep families together and provide legal assistance for individuals seeking to adopt or receive guardianship. Each year, the center holds events to help fundraise for the many important family-saving processes that they are involved in. The doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation™ was pleased to contribute a product gift basket to the center's silent auction event to help the center fund guardianship and adoption. 

The center's dedication to assist legalized guardianship and adoption processes is keeping children in families and away from foster care programs. Many children who enter into foster programs have experienced loss of family, abandonment, and loneliness, which can spur feelings of depression and hopelessness. By being placed in a foster care program, children go without the influence of a stable family environment, which can intensify negative feelings.

Additionally, these feelings of depression and hopelessness may not end when a child is out of the foster care program but can have the potential to influence adulthood. Studies have found that, "there are sizably greater risks among adult [foster care] alumni for PTSD, anxiety disorders, depression, and drug dependence." These setbacks also have the power to escalate into more severe issues and statistics like, "80 percent of the US prison population [being] made of children who were in substitute care." With studies and statistics like these, it is not hard to imagine how important it is to keep children within the bounds of safe and loving family environments.

Since 2003, the Center for Law and Social Work has been using their resources to legally bind families together and help children avoid the emotional pitfalls of living in foster care. In order to accomplish this, they offer various services that cater to the best interests of children and families. These services include adoption, adult guardianship, minor guardianship, backup planning, and clinical services.
