doTERRA Wellness Advocate Volunteers with American Cancer Society
To comfort those experiencing the pains of cancer, a doTERRA Wellness Advocate spends her time volunteering for the American Cancer Society.
PLEASANT GROVE, Utah, March 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- For doTERRA Wellness Advocate Kelli DeCoronado, her natural-born instinct to volunteer has led her to help the American Cancer Society strengthen cancer patients and further cancer research. Kelli is continually finding ways to help others by volunteering for programs that focus on cancer. Though she has never had cancer herself, she has seen the difficulties associated with it and works hard to "get people to understand that cancer is an easier battle to fight with a multitude of people." That is why she chose to work with the American Cancer Society.
The American Cancer Society is a large voluntary health organization that strives to prevent cancer, build awareness, provide advocates, research cures, and decrease suffering from cancer. The society has played an active role in cancer research breakthroughs for the past seventy years and has made a large impact on the lives of the people it serves.
According to Kelli, most of the people she helps at the American Cancer Society are in great pain, whether that be emotional pain or physical pain. But through the efforts of the American Cancer Society and their millions of supporters, they are able to reduce that pain by providing and participating in support programs targeted to meet any emotional and physical needs.
One of their main programs is Relay for Life, an overnight community fundraising walk. During this walk, community members, like Kelli, come to cheer on cancer survivors as they take the first lap around the track, light candles in paper lanterns in remembrance of those who have been lost to cancer or are currently fighting it, and participate in the Fight Back ceremony where those in attendance commit to actively support the fight against cancer.
Other American Cancer Society support programs and services include free wigs, prosthetics, head coverings, rides to treatments, support groups, referral programs, Look Good Feel Better classes, awareness programs, and fundraising for cancer patients. Through their dedication to eliminating cancer and its painful effects, the American Cancer Society is bringing hope and health to cancer victims nationwide.
