Dr. Alveda King (Niece of Martin Luther King, Jr.) to Speak In Rockford Illinois at January Life Breakfast

ROCKFORD, Ill., Jan. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --  Dr. Alveda King (niece of Martin Luther King, Jr.) will speak on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the fourteenth annual January Life Breakfast organized by the Howard Center for Family, Religion and Society and the World Congress of Families to be held at Giovanni's Restaurant & Convention Center, 610 Bell School Road, Rockford Illinois.  Dr. King will speak on, "The Most Compelling Civil Rights Issues of Today."  To register to attend the breakfast, please contact Judy Hodge at The Howard Center, 1-815-964-5819, [email protected].

Dr. King is the founder of King for America and serves as a Pastoral Associate and Director of African-American Outreach for Priests for Life. She is also a voice for the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, sharing her testimony of two abortions, God's forgiveness, and healing. The daughter of the late slain civil rights activist Rev. A.D. King and his wife Naomi Barber King, Alveda grew up in the civil rights movement led by her uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  She is the grateful mother of six children and she is a doting grandmother.
