Dr. Anita Milici Participated in Community 5k!

PHILADELPHIA, Pa., Aug. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Matarazzo and Milici Dental Group want Philadelphia area residents to understand how oral hygiene can be good not just for patients' teeth, but for their overall health. To do that, Dr. Milici stationed a table at the 5k to provide educational material and oral hygiene products to runners.

Why is oral hygiene and health so important? Well, the American Dental Association found that 90% of whole-body disease has oral evidence tied to it. Poor oral health brings a risk of other total body diseases such as:

In the state of Pennsylvania, a status report from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention indicated that from 2006 to 2008 (most up-to-date statistic) the percentage had dropped for adults 18 years and older who visited the dentist within a year's time. Dr. Francis S. Matarazzo graduated from Temple University Dental School with his dental degree. Afterwards, for two years, Dr. Matarazzo continued training as a captain in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps. In 1993, she graduated with a dual specialty in periodontics and prosthodontics, completing her training with a Branemark fellowship in implantology. Dr. Milici is certified in advanced laser dentistry for treating periodontal disease, and she also has extensive training in periodontal plastic surgery.
