Dr. Ben Han Receives "Heroes In Medicine" honor for Community Outreach from Palm Beach County Medical Society

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., April 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Ben H. Han, co-founder of South Florida Radiation Oncology, has been recognized as a "Hero in Medicine" for Community Outreach to the Caridad Clinic in Palm Beach County.

Dr. Han is proud to work with his partner physicians at SFRO to provide medical treatment in the field of radiation oncology for Caridad Clinic and Project Access patients in Palm Beach County. In addition to physician services, South Florida Radiation Oncology, LLC., has donated nearly a quarter of a million dollars of radiation treatments for the Caridad Clinic's patients. We salute all of our staff in participating in the care of these needy patients.

The Caridad Clinic operates free medical and dental clinics that provide vital health services to the uninsured, working poor families of Palm Beach County, Florida. In fiscal year 2010-2011, more than 25,000 patient visits were recorded.

SFRO (South Florida Radiation Oncology) offers radiation therapy services in eight locations throughout Palm Beach, Martin, and Port St. Lucie counties. The cancer treatment centers offer the latest technologies in radiation including TrueBeam, CyberKnife, Rapidarc, and  High Dose Rate techniques. Ben H. Han, M.D. is a Board-Certified Radiation Oncologist and Diplomat, American Board of Radiology. Dr. Han graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1997, and completed his post-graduate training at Baylor. He completed his bachelor's degree at the University of Chicago. Dr. Han is board-certified in radiation oncology and has been practicing in the South Florida area since 2002.

Dr. Han has had articles published in the New England Journal of Medicine; the International Journal of Cancer; the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics; among many others.
