Dr. Laura Schlessinger Launches "Dr. Laura Designs"

LOS ANGELES, June 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Laura Schlessinger, one of the most popular talk show hosts in radio history, announces the launch today of "Dr. Laura Designs," an online boutique featuring her personally designed and handcrafted jewelry, glass and polymer clay art.

The boutique, at DrLauraDesigns.com, features ready-made items available for immediate purchase, as well as a customized section where shoppers can commission made-to-order pieces. Dr. Laura designs and handcrafts all of the work seen on the site.

Dr. Laura has had a passion for jewelry-making and glass art that started when her then-little son suggested that she needed a new hobby. "I never thought I had one ounce of artistic ability, and couldn't think of what I could do," she says. Then a listener recommended a local bead fest she should visit, and "I walked by a table filled with Tibetan ornaments and my brain just exploded with creative images." She initially created the jewelry as a way to raise funds for charity and raised over $1.5 million for Operation Family Fund, a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to families of those who are injured or killed while fighting the war on terrorism.

Since starting with jewelry, Dr. Laura has branched out into working with glass and polymer clay, and offers unique tote bags in her boutique as well. Prices begin at $75.
