Dr. Marc Pfeffer to deliver second annual Arthur A. Sasahara, MD Lecture on Thrombosis
BOSTON, Sept. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The North American Thrombosis Forum (NATF), a non-profit organization working to increase public awareness of thrombosis and related cardiovascular diseases, has selected Marc Pfeffer, MD, PhD, as the recipient of the 2nd annual Arthur A. Sasahara, MD Lectureship Award.
The Arthur A. Sasahara, MD Lectureship Award was introduced in 2012 to salute NATF Founding Board Member and longtime esteemed colleague, Dr. Art Sasahara, for his pioneering career in thrombosis medicine, and to commemorate his milestone 85th birthday. The award is given each year to a distinguished healthcare professional who has made a significant impact in the field of cardiology, including contributions to research, education, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of thrombosis-related diseases.
Dr. Pfeffer will deliver the keynote Arthur A. Sasahara, MD Lecture on Thrombosis at the NATF Thrombosis Summit on September 28 at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel. His lecture will address the link between heart failure and thrombosis.
"Just knowing this man has made me a better person, and because of that, I feel so honored to have my name attached to the Sasahara lectureship," said Dr. Pfeffer.
Dr. Pfeffer is a cardiologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Dzau Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He was an intern at the Boston VA Medical Center under Dr. Sasahara's leadership, and has maintained a relationship with his early mentor for over three decades.
