LAS VEGAS, Aug. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Samir Pancholi is pleased to announce that Lori Brown of Henderson, Nevada is the 2018 recipient of the inaugural Pancholi Scholarship for Nevada Educators. The Scholarship was developed by Dr. Pancholi to support and empower our next generation of teachers in Nevada, with the hope of encouraging those who have chosen to devote their lives to education in the face of teacher shortages and a system that undervalues the profession.
Dr. Pancholi believes that educators play a large role in shaping the minds of our youth, yet they are often undervalued: "It is my hope that this scholarship can help encourage local, upcoming educators to continue pursuing their goals. All applicants showed a remarkable dedication to their education and passion for shaping the minds of the next generation. But while choosing between such inspiring applicants was a challenge, we knew one thing for certain: the future is bound to be bright with these Nevada educators at the helm."
Lori Brown was awarded the $2,000 scholarship after her application was chosen from a number of qualified entries. Ms. Brown is currently studying Speech Language Pathology at Nevada State College, in addition to volunteering her time as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children in the foster care system. She also has been providing free speech therapy services to children in need through a clinic established by the Scottish Rite Foundation.
"I believe that there is nothing more rewarding than touching the lives of others and have found there is a true peace in doing what you love," states Ms. Brown. "There is a peace within that is somewhat indescribable when passion meets profession."
Dr. Pancholi is confident that Ms. Brown will go on to do great things and change the lives of many children. She is currently enrolled in summer courses and looks forward to completing her clinical practicum next semester so she can help children in Clark County schools overcome speech, language, and communication disorders.
"It was an honor to meet Ms. Brown and be able to help offset some of the costs of her education," Dr. Pancholi says. "Those who are called to the field of education have a noble, important role, and I look forward to continuing this scholarship to support, encourage, and empower teachers-to-be."
