SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Feb. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Sovereign Health, a national behavioral health system, is proud to announce that Dr. Tonmoy Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of Sovereign Health, will be the guest speaker at the "Accreditation Workshop," alongside The Joint Commission, on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch. Dr. Sharma's presentation will be in two parts: "Using Measurement-Based Care to Enhance Substance Abuse and Mental Health Treatment," and "How to Build a Company into a National Brand."
For some time now, Dr. Sharma has been a proponent of using measurement-based care (MBC) to improve treatment outcomes. And he has done more than just talk about it: Dr. Sharma has also been an early adapter by deploying MBC at Sovereign Health's treatment facilities. Recently, The Joint Commission announced that starting in 2018, all facilities wishing receive or maintain Joint Commission accreditation must utilize measurement-based care to do so. According to Dr. Sharma, "For decades medical practitioners have used measurement-based care to track patients' progress through treatment and to gauge the effectiveness of treatment modalities. It's time for behavioral health treatment providers, especially in the area of addiction treatment to function in the same way as their peers in the medical area."
The second element of Dr. Sharma's presentation will focus on building a national brand. In less than nine years, Sovereign Health has grown from a single Intensive Outpatient Program in San Clemente to a national behavioral health care system with nine facilities in five states. Sovereign has been listed for three consecutive years in the Inc. 5000, Inc. Magazines listing of the 5000 fastest growing privately held U.S. companies. One key to that success has been the fact that the majority of Sovereign's facilities hold two licenses: one to provide primary mental health care services and the other to provide primary addiction/dual diagnosis treatment services. About Sovereign's success, Dr. Sharma is quick to add, "Measurement-based care is an invaluable tool to measure, maintain and grow the quality of care provided by your company. At Sovereign Health, quality of care, customer service and taking care of our staff are our highest priorities."
Dr. Tonmoy Sharma has been recognized with numerous awards, honors and grants for his work in advancing mental health and its treatment in the United States, Europe and Southeast Asia. He is a prolific researcher and scientist as well as the author or co-author of more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and five books on schizophrenia and mental illness. Dr. Sharma, recently selected by the Orange County Business Journal (OCBJ) is listed in the OC500 as one of the most influential people in the Orange County business community, has served on numerous editorial boards, acted as peer reviewer for 14 international medical journals, and has been on various advisory boards governing the development of antipsychotics, and is on the board of directors to the National Alliance on Mental Illness Orange County (NAMI OC).
