FORT WORTH, Texas, Sept. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The DRC, formerly Day Resource Center for the Homeless, has launched a new website at www.DRC-Solutions.org to showcase its new mission in time for North Texas Giving Day, Thursday, September 17, 2015.
The DRC's new mission closely aligns the 16-year-old nonprofit with the Housing First approach that places individuals or families in housing as quickly as possible and then links them with support services appropriate to their needs.
"We're building on DRC's core capabilities and preparing for a larger role in efforts to put Housing First for people experiencing homelessness across our community," according to Bruce Frankel, DRC executive director. "Our housing services are supported by other DRC strengths like social services system navigation, critical documents support, victims' advocacy, and family reunification."
Colocation agreements extend the reach of DRC housing and other services to areas with unmet need without the high cost of new facilities. Through colocation, DRC specialists rotate among offices of allied social service agencies and faith-based partners, linking DRC clients with complementary services from allies like the YWCA Fort Worth & Tarrant County.
DRC professional staff continues to provide services at the agency's day shelter at 1415 E. Lancaster Ave. in Fort Worth. Room in the Inn, a partnership with 22 local churches that provide seasonal shelter and hospitality to people experiencing homelessness, also remains a cherished part of DRC programming, Frankel said.
