Dreams on Wheels 2012: Real Dreams, Real Passion, Really Close By
Author partners with multiple non-profits for innovative book tour
WESTON, Conn., Aug. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Barbara Lavi, clinical psychologist and author, launches Dreams on Wheels 2012, a celebration of her book's new Kindle edition with Kiwi Publishing on Amazon.com. Events are scheduled with Boaz & Ruth, Elimination of Prejudice, and Menorah Park, three of 21 charities receiving half of the profits from book sales. It is also a traveling positive psychology research project with a Dream Team of interns conducting and filming interviews to discover how Americans' dreams are faring during these tough financial times. The tour can be followed live and on multiple social media sites.
At the center of the tour, Dr. Lavi's self-help book, The Wake Up and Dream Challenge, is a source of encouragement. One of the innovative techniques that helped transform her clients' lives, the Dream Quotient Inventory(SM), will be distributed for free. This self-assessment tool, like an IQ Test, will enable people to discover and enhance their Dream Quotient (DQ)(SM). The book also teaches readers to design their Dream Positioning System (DPS)(SM) to chart their journey and start moving towards their dreams.
Dr. Lavi says the tour demonstrates how "where there's a dream, there's a way." Initially, Dr. Lavi planned to fly to Richmond, Va. to speak at the National Conference of Elimination of Prejudice from Aug. 3-5 and then to Cleveland to be scholar-in-residence from Aug. 5-7 at the Menorah Park Center for Senior Living. Her interns, inspired by the plans, volunteered to accompany her. When Menorah Park heard about the interns' dream to join Dr. Lavi, they generously funded a rental van, and Dreams on Wheels 2012 was born.
En route to Richmond and Cleveland, the Dream Team will stop in New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and other places associated with American dreams. Dr. Lavi will connect with people to help set their dreams in motion.
The first charity Dr. Lavi will visit, Boaz & Ruth, helps ex-convicts rebuild their lives and communities through relationships, job training and job placement. A talk and book signing, "Dinner, Music, and Dreams," is scheduled for Aug. 2 from 5-9 p.m. at Firehouse 15, located at 3011 Meadowbridge Road in Richmond.
From Aug. 3-5 Dr. Lavi will address the National Convention of Elimination of Prejudice (EoP). Leaders from 40 American and Canadian colleges will hear how "waking up dreams" can help fight bullying.
Menorah Park helps seniors accomplish dreams with their D.R.E.A.M. Weavers program. There will be four workshops for residents, "Jumpstart Your Dreams at Any Age," and a free talk, "How to Wake Up and Dream," open to the public at Menorah Park, located at 27100 Cedar Road in Beachwood, Ohio, on Aug. 7 from 7:30-8:30 p.m.
