The result of years of research, Drip Drop® ORS is an advanced form of ORS that builds upon The World Health Organization's oral rehydration therapy standards.
"We are delighted with the participation of such experienced and strategic investors," said Founder and Chief Medical Officer, Eduardo Dolhun, M.D. "Our company has advanced the taste of a safe and effective medical solution for dehydration and we are looking forward to expanding our efforts and positively impacting lives."
Key Facts:
- Drip Drop ORS, packaged in portable packets, is used by the military, ultra-endurance athletes, the chronically ill, children with diarrhea, and elderly patients with acute gastroenteritis.
- Originally developed by Dr. Dolhun to be palatable for dehydrated children during medical relief missions, Drip Drop's humanitarian efforts have resulted in Drip Drop ORS being used by thousands of children and adults.
- ORS therapies are credited with saving millions of lives a year worldwide, and can prevent the need for intravenous (IV) fluid therapy. 200,000 children are hospitalized every year in the US for dehydration—most can be avoided with ORS therapy.
David Zezza, Partner at Pacific Advantage Capital, commented, "Our investment in Drip Drop is consistent with our focus of investing in innovative pharmaceutical and medical consumer companies. Drip Drop ORS addresses the needs of medical professionals and other end users looking for a safe and effective product to treat dehydration."
Oral rehydration therapy has been heralded by the medical journal, The Lancet, as "possibly the most important medical understanding of the 20th century," yet remains underutilized in the U.S. due, in Drip Drop's view, to poor taste and lack of consumer awareness.
Funding will be used to increase Drip Drop's committed consumer following, cultivate new consumers and expand brand awareness.
