NEW YORK, Jan. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The "Drs. Oz and Roizen" weekly editorial package distributed by King Features Syndicate is now available to Spanish-language newspapers and other media outlets across North America, reaching a critical and underserved readership. Covering some of the most topical medical subjects of the day, the popular health and wellness package made its debut in La Voz de Houston. King Features plans to add more media outlets later this year.
According to the most recent Census, Spanish is the second most-used language in the United States, with more than 37 million people ages 5 and over speaking it at home. The new Spanish-language package will, for the first time, bring America's Doctors to Hispanic readers in their native tongue.
"The language of healing is universal and publishing the column in Spanish will make it accessible to millions of people who want vital information on lifestyle and health," said Dr. Mehmet Oz. "My show airs in 118 countries so I know first hand that a conversation about health transcends many barriers and bridges across many languages. The Spanish-language media in the U.S. is robust and reaches millions—we are thrilled to have something to contribute for their readers."
Each week, Drs. Oz and Roizen provide analysis and discussion on a wide variety of topics, from breaking medical news to advice on how to prevent and combat conditions that affect overall wellness and quality of life. The weekly package includes Daily Tips that encourage readers to make better choices in their everyday lives, and a Weekly Feature of in-depth information about leading health events and medical advances in the headlines.
"Our Spanish column is tailored for an All-American audience," said Dr. Roizen. "We give Hispanic readers the timely medical and health information needed to be, feel and look younger."
