DSI McMinnville dialysis seeks to improve patients quality of life by expanding treatment options.

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Patients at DSI McMinnville Dialysis clinic now have another option when it comes to choosing a dialysis treatment that is right for them.  DSI Renal, a leading provider of dialysis services for patients suffering from chronic kidney failure, announced today that their McMinnville location will now offer patients the opportunity to receive treatment at home through their Peritoneal Dialysis program. 

DSI McMinnville will also provide Periotneal Dialysis treatments to patients who are admitted or scheduled for surgery at the local hospital.  With the addition of this service Doctors and Surgeons will no longer have to send their patients to hospitals in Nashville, patients will be able to stay in McMinnville to receive the medical care they need and still receive their PD treatments.

Unlike in-center hemodialysis, a more common blood-filtering procedure, peritoneal dialysis utilizes the patient's peritoneal membrane in the abdomen to remove excess fluid from the body.  PD easily fits into a patient's daily life due to its portability and less restrictions. There are many benefits to a patient's physical and mental health associated with this type of treatment. A patient is able dialyze at home, at work, or while traveling.  They have flexible treatment times, and most are able to eat a more regular diet, allowing them to continue living a normal life while receiving their life-sustaining treatments.
