DuBois Business College and Inventionland Partner to bring Imagination, Invention, and Innovation to the Classroom
DUBOIS, Pa., March 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- DuBois Business College, one of the oldest private business colleges in the U.S., is now offering its students a new curricular enhancement called the Inventionland Institute. The new interdisciplinary and project-based classes will give students instruction that relates directly to the real world with entrepreneurial skills needed to turn ideas into working prototypes. The classes will apply the S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) concepts as part of the ongoing commitment to higher learning. "We could not be more excited. "We look forward to seeing how our students will apply their newly learned and state-of-the-art problem solving and entrepreneurial skills," she added.
Throughout the coursework, students work collaboratively to generate ideas and make a concept model, and then engineer each part of their invention using CAD technology. Then, using 3-D printing, students are able to transform their designs into a physical prototype. Next, to visually sell their idea, each group will use a graphic design tool to construct the external packaging for their invention. Toward the end of the program students will have created a product sample and must develop a marketing pitch and infomercial.
The course will culminate in a "Shark Tank" presentation in front of professional entrepreneurs and inventors. DuBois Business College offers both Associate in Specialized Business Degrees and Diploma programs, is licensed by the State Board of Private Licensed Schools, and is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools.
