BOSTON, March 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The winners of CSN Stores' Big Bad Bedroom Breakup, a national search for the worst bedroom in the U.S., just received their brand new, designer-inspired bedroom, which gives them a fresh start as they plan their upcoming wedding.
Sherie Laframboise, 26, and her fiance, Wes Frazier, 25, from Clayton, MO, were ecstatic and emotional when they walked into their new $10,000 bedroom, created over several weeks by the CSN Room Rescue Crew and Michael Payne, former TV host of "Designing for the Sexes." The winners were selected from more than 6,200 entries asking to break up with bad bedrooms across the country.
"Meeting Sherie and Wes in person, after going through a year of evaluating entries and creating designs was really a thrill," said Payne. "They have a moving story and really needed a stunning retreat to call their own. I'm glad we were able to be part of this very happy chapter in their lives."
To enter the contest, people were asked to write a brief note explaining why they wanted to 'break up' with their bedroom, and why a new bedroom relationship would go a long way. Laframboise and Frazier were selected for many reasons, including her heartwarming and creative entry and her need for a new relationship with her bedroom.
"You are the first thing I see in the morning and I come to you time and time again each night, but I know we have grown apart," Laframboise wrote in her entry, referring to her old bedroom. "I've grown up and I now need a bedroom that is sophisticated, elegant, and most importantly, unique to fit my personality."
Laframboise also noted that she and her fiance, Wes, both lost their mothers recently to cancer and have had other challenging times, juggling several jobs, school commitments and other home renovations. But when CSN and Michael Payne let Laframboise know that she had won, she was overjoyed, saying it was a moment she would never forget.
Her old bedroom, which had hand-me-down, mismatched furniture, had become a work of art, transformed with vibrant bedding and window treatments from SIS Covers, a contemporary rug from Foreign Accents, and lamps from Shady Lady -- all original designs and products in Michael Payne's line. Sherie and Wes also received Blessing Boxes by Pure Designs and Towels from Coyuchi, special gifts through CSN Stores' new private sale site, Joss & Main (www.JossandMain.com.), which offers exclusive, luxury items for less. Dozens of other items from CSN Stores, including artwork, accents, mirrors and more lined the room.
"It was genuinely gratifying to see the outpouring of support for Sherie and Wes during the bedroom makeover," said Chuck Casto of CSN's Room Rescue Crew. "Sherie's father drove two hours to see the room and many friends gathered for the unveiling. Members of the media even told us they felt the entire city of St. Louis had won the contest. We're delighted for Sherie and Wes and hope the new bedroom makeover is just the first of many great events in the couple's upcoming life together."
