E Ink and ANREALAGE Debut Color-Changing Dresses at Paris Fashion Week

Garments unite traditional textile craftsmanship with dynamic materials to explore color, movement, and the future of fashion

BILLERICA, Mass., Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- E Ink, a pioneer and leading global developer of ePaper technology, announced a creative relationship with ANREALAGE, the avant-garde Japanese fashion house founded by designer Kunihiko Morinaga. Through the collaboration, ANREALAGE incorporated E Ink Prism™ 3 into six color-changing dresses in its Spring/Summer 2027 "SKIN" collection, presented during Paris Fashion Week on September 29.

The collaboration brings together traditional textile craftsmanship and modern material technology. Known for challenging conventional ideas about form, perception, and materials, Morinaga used E Ink Prism to push conventionally static fashion to a new dimension—one in which movement is expressed not only through the shape of a garment, but also through its changing appearance.

For the ANREALAGE collection, each color-changing dress features approximately 1,000 to 2,000 individual E Ink Prism pieces. Arranged in a scale-like pattern, the elements work together to create additional outfits out of a singular garment. As a result, the technology provides a sustainable way to multiply the creative possibilities of an individual piece.

Following their Paris Fashion Week debut, a selection of the E Ink garments will be presented as part of the "JUST AN REAL AGE" exhibition in Paris from October 2–5, 2026, at 76 Rue de Turenne, 75003 Paris. The public can also view the craftsmanship up close at select E Ink shows in 2027, including COMPUTEX 2027 and InfoComm 2027.

Transforming Materials Through E Ink Prism

E Ink Prism is a dynamic material technology that brings programmable color and pattern surfaces of all shapes and sizes – from color changing cars, automotive interiors, fashion accessories, handbags, and more. Unlike traditional light-emitting displays, E Ink technology is reflective, relying on ambient light to make colors visible. Its bistable properties allow an image to remain in place without continuously consuming power. Energy is only required when the display changes.
