Eagle Ranch Announces Openings For Girls And Boys In Grades 4-7

CHESTNUT MOUNTAIN, Ga., Sept. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Eagle Ranch, one of Georgia's largest homes for children in crisis, today announced it is now accepting applications to serve girls and boys in grades 4-7. Parents are encouraged to act now as a limited number of openings are available.

Counties served by Eagle Ranch include: Banks, Barrow, Cherokee, Clarke, Cobb, Dawson, Dekalb, Elbert, Franklin, Fannin, Forsyth, Fulton, Gilmer, Gwinnett, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Jackson, Lumpkin, Madison, Oconee, Pickens, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, Walton and White.

"So many parents wait until high school to seek help for a son or daughter who is clearly in trouble, and that can be too late," said Licensed Professional Counselor Tundi Massey. "Getting your child help sooner keeps problems from getting worse and paves the way for success in high school and beyond."

Massey, who serves as Eagle Ranch's Referral Coordinator, noted that parents sometimes struggle with the idea of having a younger child away from home. Eagle Ranch's program enables girls and boys to return home every other weekend and on holidays. Parents also see their children when they meet for regular family counseling sessions at the Ranch.

"Some separation can be helpful for a child and for the family. It alleviates a lot of pressure and stress, allowing the family to step back and see the situation from a fresh perspective," Massey said. "Eagle Ranch's program is unique to most children's residential programs because we really keep the family connected throughout a child's stay. We provide a safe and caring environment that younger children do very well in."

The Eagle Ranch program is funded through private donations, making it available to families of all income levels. A small fee is charged to families based upon their current financial situation.

Eagle Ranch provides residential care for up to 66 children on its campus, located in South Hall County in Chestnut Mountain, Ga. The campus accommodates 24 girls and 42 boys in 10 homes. Each home is staffed by a live-in houseparent couple, creating a warm family atmosphere. The Eagle Ranch program focuses on development of a child in four key areas: emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual.

Eagle Ranch offers a SACS-accredited private school for grades 6-9 on its campus. Children in grades not served by the on-campus school attend quality Hall County schools near the Ranch. Eagle Ranch School classrooms are limited to 10 children per class and are staffed by a certified teacher and paraprofessional, who provide individual attention and meet each child at their point of academic need.

An equine therapy program is available for girls and boys to build trust, confidence and leadership skills. The 270-acre campus offers a variety of recreational opportunities for children.
