MODESTO, Calif., Nov. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ecco Domani® — the iconic Italian wine brand— is launching Ecco Domani Prosecco, a lightly effervescent Prosecco with a contemporary screw cap closure that gives a fun twist to everyday occasions.
Prosecco continues to grow in popularity, with wine enthusiasts everywhere embracing the fun, casual wine style that makes any occasion festive. Ecco Domani's Prosecco is made in a frizzante style, giving it a lighter, effervescent character and gentle bubbles that pair wonderfully with food.
"My goal as a winemaker is to produce wines that are fruit forward and food friendly—that is my vision for our new Ecco Domani Prosecco," said Fabrizio Gatto, consulting master winemaker, Ecco Domani. "A frizzante-style Prosecco is something you would find on tables throughout Italy for everyday enjoyment, whether it's an informal gathering with friends or an upgrade to your weeknight dinner."
Ecco Domani Prosecco is made with grapes from Treviso, in northern Italy's renowned Prosecco region. The fruit for this vintage was primarily selected from historic hillside vineyards. Well drained chalk and clay soils and mild, stable temperatures provide the perfect conditions for delicate grapes with elegant floral and fruit characteristics.
Made in the Charmat method, Ecco Domani Prosecco undergoes a brief secondary fermentation that creates a delightfully fizzy quality. The result is a wine with a pale, golden straw color that offers bright, vibrant aromas and flavors of fresh citrus, honey and green apple supported by subtle floral notes. Its creamy sweetness is balanced by crisp, refreshing acidity, a delicate mouthfeel and a smooth finish.
"This Prosecco pairs beautifully with casual meals including seafood and salads and also with delicious indigenous ingredients from the Treviso region," said Gatto. "One of my favorite dishes to serve alongside it is Risotto con Radicchio e Casatella, which is made with local chicory and a traditional creamy cheese from the Treviso area. During the winter holidays, Italians like to drink this style of Prosecco with traditional cakes like 'Panettone' and 'Pandoro'—it's quite festive!"
Just in time for the holidays and all the social gatherings that come with the season, Ecco Domani Prosecco is now available at retailers nationwide. Consumers will find it in the Sparkling section or Italian import section for an MSRP of $10.99 per bottle.
