SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Internet of Things pioneer Echelon Corporation (NASDAQ: ELON) makes EdisonReport's top 10 MUST SEE list with its new InSight Cognitive Vision System. The artificial intelligence technology helps smart cities improve safety by enabling applications like traffic adaptive lighting, while reducing outdoor lighting cost. Each Spring, the EdisonReport evaluates hundreds of products from a wide range of companies and chooses the top 10 MUST SEE products, giving Echelon the honor for the second consecutive year.
The Echelon InSight system utilizes artificial intelligence in vision-enabled edge devices, optimized for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications. With this patent-pending technology, data is collected and processed at the edge of the network instead of on a central server, minimizing demands on network bandwidth. It uses the Lumewave by Echelon® lighting platform to transmit information, creating an architecture that enables faster decision-making in response to changing conditions. For example, the cognitive vision system can be deployed on intersection streetlights where it will analyze traffic flows and automatically adjust light levels accordingly, triggering higher levels during peak hours and lower levels during non-peak hours.
